"Brianna" -- Frank Casimiro © -- All rights reserved 2000

She wore a yellow ribbon in her hair
With a pastel bow of blue
Her bangs cut short, straight and neat
Let her brown eyes shine right through
We had met one cool autumn's eve
For it was dinner that we did share
She sat there riddling me with her words
I sat there listening and returned a happy stare

I asked her things she liked to do
She replied, shopping, books and oh yes, ice skate
You see this person I had just met
Well, she was only eight
That night ended quick, it was time to part
So her mother hailed them both a cab
Where in the backseat she whispered in her mom's ear
My oh my mom wasn't he a handsome lad

I will always remember her eyes, face, and smile
That innocent laugh which she sustained
She enlightened my world for that short time
And I've only seen her once again
For but a brief moment, so enthralled
I was cast deep into her world
Where lifelong worries seem so small
And only happy times are unfurled
